A Binary Choice Model with Sample Selection and Covariate-Related Misclassification

چکیده

Misclassification of a binary response variable and nonrandom sample selection are data issues frequently encountered by empirical researchers. For cases in which both feature simultaneously set, we formulate model for misclassified outcome the conditional probabilities misclassification allowed to depend on covariates. Assuming availability validation data, pseudo-maximum likelihood technique can be used estimate model. The performance estimator accounting is compared that estimators offering partial corrections. An example illustrates proposed framework.

Simple Endogenous Binary Choice and Selection Panel Model Estimators

This paper provides numerically trivial estimators for short panels of either binary choices or of linear models that suffer from confounded, missing not at random sample selection. The estimators allow for Þxed effects, endogenous regressors, weakly exogenous regressors, and heterokedastic errors with unknown distribution. The estimators, which converge at rate root n, are based on variants of...

Model Selection Under Covariate Shift

A common assumption in supervised learning is that the training and test input points follow the same probability distribution. However, this assumption is not fulfilled, e.g., in interpolation, extrapolation, or active learning scenarios. The violation of this assumption— known as the covariate shift—causes a heavy bias in standard generalization error estimation schemes such as cross-validati...

Semiparametric Estimation of Heteroscedastic Binary Choice Sample Selection Models under Symmetry

Binary choice sample selection models are widely used in applied economics with large crosssectional data where heteroscedaticity is typically a serious concern. Existing parametric and semiparametric estimators for the binary selection equation and the outcome equation in such models su®er from serious drawbacks in the presence of heteroscedasticity of unknown form in the latent errors. In thi...

Efficient selection of binary choice bundles with cost considerations

We consider the problem of a consumer wishing to evaluate bundles of options from a list of N independently selectable binary options. The consumer’s goal is to find the t best bundles out of the 2 possible bundle subsets, when ranked according to supplied utility and cost functions. Although 2 is very large (e.g., for N = 100, 2 ≈ 10), we show how this can be done quickly and efficiently. As a...
